SRINAGAR: A massive fire broke out in a forest compartment at WaniArm Wangat in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday evening.
Locals said the fire which erupted on today at in Gulab-Pathri wildlife range block Wangath is spreading to more areas causing huge damage to the green gold.
“The raging flames could be seen from a distance in the forest,” locals said. “A large number of trees are feared to have suffered damage,” they said.
DFO Ganderbal Mir Owais Ahmad told Kashmir Life that it’s a Wildlife area where fire engulfed but we have also deputed our employees there to douse the fire.
Incharge control room Wildlife Ganderbal Shabir Ahmad Khan said that our men are on job to douse the flames and prevent it from spreading further.
