SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora have arrested four individuals and seized three vehicles used for unauthorised mineral extraction and transportation, officials said on Thursday.
According to police, a team from Police Station Awantipora, led by SHO DySP (Probationer) Atif Zahoor and supervised by SDPO Awantipora, intercepted three tippers bearing registration numbers JK03D-0473, JK03B-9010, and JK03B-4872. The vehicles were reportedly being used for illegal transportation of extracted minerals during night hours.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ab Hamid Dar, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, and Gh. Mohi Uddin Dar, all residents of Aghanjipora, and Fayaz Ahmad Shairgojri from Padgampora.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 118/2025 at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
