Four persons were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Kishtwar district on Wednesday.

Reports said that the accident occurred when a passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK 17- 6479 carrying pilgrims from Palmar to the Sarthal temple, skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge.

They said that soon after the accident, Police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a district hospital in Kishtwar, where doctors declared four of them brought dead.

Three critically injured people were shifted to the Government Medical College  Jammu through a chopper for specialised treatment.

Police have taken the cognizance of the incident, he said.

Meanwhle, district Administration Kishtwar provided immediate relief to the next of the Kin of deceased persons and those injured in a road mishap here at Sarthal

After receiving the information, District administration, Kishtwar provided immediate relief to the tune of Rs 10 thousand each to the families of deceased and 5 thousand each to injured out of District Red Cross Fund.

The DC Kishtwar informed that all the injured were shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar for necessary treatment, form where  3 critically injured were shifted to Government Medical College, Jammu, 2 by chopper and 1 by ambulance for specialized treatment. He directed the health authorities to take good care of the injured persons.
