SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district said on Saturday that it had attached or frozen four immovable properties, collectively valued at around Rs 7.11 crore, under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The properties were linked to cases involving alleged drug trafficking and terror-related activities, with police saying the action was aimed at targeting assets and financial networks connected with illicit activities.
Police Station Zakura attached a residential house and adjoining land at Bilal Colony, Zakura, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 crore and belonging to Owais Ahmad Rather, son of Gh. Mohd Rather.
The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 34/2026 under Sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Police said the property was identified during the investigation as having been acquired in connection with illicit drug trafficking. It was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act, barring its sale, lease, transfer, alteration or creation of any third-party interest until further orders from the competent authority.
In an earlier action, Police Station Nowgam attached property worth around Rs 2.85 crore belonging to Sheeraz Ahmed Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Wagoora, BK Pora.
The property, located at Wagoora in Tehsil BK Pora, comprises a two-storeyed concrete building, two shops and a rice mill constructed on 18 marlas of land. It was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 121/2023 under Sections 8/15 of the Act after approval from the competent authority.
Police Station Ahmadnagar also attached a residential property at Danihama, Hazratbal, valued at approximately Rs 1.30 crore and belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gani Mir.
The property consists of a single-storeyed residential house with adjoining land measuring six marlas. The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 20/2026 under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 18-B, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the UAPA.
Police said the property was attached under Section 25 of the UAPA after prior approval from the competent authority and in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses.
Separately, Police Station Shalteng froze a single-storeyed residential house along with seven marlas of land at Check Mujgund, Srinagar, valued at approximately Rs 46 lakh and belonging to Amir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Ashraf Mir.
The action was linked to FIR No. 43/2023 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. Police said the investigation established that the property had been acquired from proceeds of illicit drug trafficking, following which it was frozen under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Police said the four actions were part of its continued efforts to trace and act against assets allegedly generated through illicit activities, including narcotics trafficking and terror-related offences.
Srinagar Police said it would continue to identify, trace, freeze and attach properties linked to proceeds of illicit activities and financial networks supporting drug trafficking and terror-related activities.
