SRINAGAR: Four Indian students were among several people injured in a knife attack at a university dormitory in Ufa, capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic.
The Indian Embassy in Russia confirmed that four Indian nationals sustained injuries in the incident and said it was in contact with Russian authorities. Officials from the Consulate General of India in Kazan have been dispatched to Ufa to assist the injured students.
Russia’s Federal Health Ministry said four victims are receiving medical treatment, with one reported to be in serious condition and three others in moderate condition.
According to preliminary investigations, a 15-year-old attacker armed with a knife entered a dormitory of the State Medical University and stabbed several residents. The suspect has been detained and admitted to a children’s hospital in serious condition.
Authorities have launched a high-level investigation into the incident.
