SRINAGAR: Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a militant module by arresting four militant associates in south Kashmir’s Awantipora area of Pulwama district.

In a statement, the spokesman said that Police along with the army have arrested four militant associates linked with proscribed outfit JeM and recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition from their possession.

“Acting on specific input, Awantipora police along with 50RR and 110BN CRPF apprehended 04 militant associates linked with proscribed outfit JeM, said the spokesman, adding that “they have been identified as Zubair Gul son of Gh Mohd Ganie, Adil Fayaz Ganie son of Fayaz Ahmed Ganie, Basit Ali son of Ali Mohd Dar all residents of Samboora and Shahid Nabi Pandith son of Gh Nabi Pandith resident of Konibal Pampore.” “Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including Pistol, Hand Grenade were recovered from their possession,” the spokesman said.

“During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the arrested militant associates were in touch with JeM commanders and were involved in the transportation of arms and ammunition. Besides, they were providing shelter and other logistic support to the active militants operating in Samboora and Pampore areas of Awantipora,” he said.

“Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been taken up,” said the spokesman.
