Four Militants Believed To Be Active in JK’s Kokernag; Police Investigating Civilian Role: IGP

   

SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Bhirdi, on Sunday said that a group of three to four militants is believed to be present in the Kokernag forest area, and the police are investigating the role of civilians found in close proximity to the militants.

Speaking to reporters, the IGP, said, “We are also investigating the involvement of civilians and how they came so close to the terrorists,” the IGP said.

He mentioned that the group appears to have infiltrated from Doda, noting that the borders of Anantnag and Doda are connected. The IGP confirmed that two soldiers and a civilian were killed, while another civilian is receiving medical treatment.

“An extensive search operation is underway, but the challenging terrain and weather conditions pose significant difficulties,” he added—(KNO).
