At least four shops and a rooftop covering eight other adjoining shops were gutted in a blaze in Iqbal market of Kupwara town on Friday late evening, reports said.
Sources said that the fire broke out around 7:30 PM from a shop and soon engulfed adjoining shops.
They said soon after the incident police along with firemen and locals controlled the fire and saved several shops from damage.
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, a police official said.
Locals said the shopkeeper’s lost goods worth crores of rupees in the incident.
