Fourth Patnitop Marathon Held in Jammu

   

JAMMU: Skyview by Empyrean, India’s leading sustainable mobility and tourism infrastructure destination, hosted the 4th edition of the Patnitop Marathon on 26 May. The event was organised by KA Sports and Events, founded by Iron Man triathlete Kapil Arora, with support from the Patnitop Development Authority and Jammu and Kashmir Tourism.

The marathon celebrated sportsmanship and promoted health and fitness among all age groups. It attracted over 500 participants from 48 cities and 14 states and union territories across India.

Brigadier Shantanu Kashyap, Sena Medal, Brig Aviation HQ, Northern Command, was the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Ms Saloni Rai, IAS, Joint Director Tourism, Ms Sunaina Sharma Mehta, JKAS, and CEO Patnitop Development Authority, Sh Devender Singh Bhau, JKAS.

Ms Saloni Rai, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, congratulated the organisers and noted the event’s role in promoting Patnitop and supporting the Fit-India movement. She extended her best wishes to all participants.

Runners competed in the 21.1km half marathon and 10km run across four age categories: 18-35 years, 35-45 years, 45-55 years, and 55+ years. The non-competitive 5km run was open to participants aged 5 and above.

In the 21km half marathon, the male winners were Ritik Sharma (1st), Suhail Bhat (2nd), and Sitanshu Sharma (3rd) in the 18-35 age group; Vijay Sharma (1st), Samvit Sharma (2nd), and Prakash Kumar (3rd) in the 35-45 age group; Hemanshu Prakash (1st), Vinod Godbole (2nd), and Rohit Jain (3rd) in the 45-55 age group; and Ajay Gondotra (1st), O.P. Sharma (2nd), and Er. Satpal Kalsi (3rd) in the 55+ age group. The female winners were Rimpi Devi (1st), Nandita Bayan (2nd), and Palak Malhi (3rd) in the 18-35 age group; Sunita Yadav (1st), Shilpa Chaku Handoo (2nd), and Shalini Gupta (3rd) in the 35-45 age group; and Bhavna Salathia (1st) and Sonali Pathak (2nd) in the 45-55 age group.

In the 10km run, the male winners were Brij Bhushan (1st), Balvinder Singh (2nd), and Pankaj Kumar (3rd) in the 18-35 age group; Abhishek Sharma (1st), Parveez Khan (2nd), and Shabir Ahmed Khan (3rd) in the 35-45 age group; Mohammad Yahya Khan (1st), Rohit Sadhotra (2nd), and Bhushan Sharma (3rd) in the 45-55 age group; and Anil Katoch (1st), Prem Kumar (2nd), and Bali Subhash (3rd) in the 55+ age group. The female winners were Mandeep Kour (1st), Anadika Thakur (2nd), and Rajni Rajput (3rd) in the 18-35 age group; Prerna Sharma (1st), Asima Raj (2nd), and Shweta Mittal (3rd) in the 35-45 age group; Manminder Kaur (1st), Shipra Aggarwal (2nd), and Sonia Sawhney (3rd) in the 45-55 age group; and Rekha Katoch (1st), Seloni Khajuria (2nd), and Anita Gupta (3rd) in the 55+ age group.

Owais Altaf Syed, Group Director at FIL Industries Private Limited, expressed delight in hosting the marathon and highlighted the event’s alignment with Skyview’s ethos of adventure, luxury, nature, and sustainability. He hoped participants enjoyed the scenic run and the opportunity to set new personal records.

Participants received an official t-shirt, finisher’s medal, post-race breakfast, sports drink, race day photos, and a digital certificate. Each runner also enjoyed a complimentary gondola ride on race day.
