Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed arrest of a “fraudster” who had availed loan from JK Bank after producing fake land documents.

In a statement, police said that Sarfaraz Ahmad Hakeem of Ellahi Bagh Soura was arrested, who had been evading arrest for a long time.

“During further investigation, it came to fore that the accused had availed a loan of 38 lakh rupees from Ganpatyar branch of the bank against the mortgage of land measuring 3 Kanal 12 marlas under brand name Edit World,” a police spokesperson said.

The accused according to the police statement after paying instalments for some time after availing the loan amount had turned defaulter.

“The concerned bank authorities could not take possession of the land as the revenue documents were found to be fraud,” said the police spokesperson.
