Local residents said that the road closure has severely impacted connectivity to several villages.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Basheer-Ul-Haq Choudary, explained that the Ramban-Gool road was temporarily reopened to monitor the land’s stability and ensure connectivity, which had been successful for about a month.

“However, since yesterday, the land has started sinking again, prompting us to close the Ramban-Gool road,” he stated.

Choudary reassured that an alternative route via Digdol-Sumbal-Sangaldan-Gool and railway connectivity remain operational, ensuring continued access.

He further clarified that no residents were affected by the recent land sinking as preventive measures had relocated them to safer areas.

Earlier in April, the Ramban-Gool road was closed due to similar issues but was temporarily reopened for light passenger vehicles on May 28 by GREF.

Last month, experts from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) investigated the causes of the land sinking in Parnote and submitted a detailed report with recommendations, urging caution and advising against agricultural or residential activities in the affected area until it is declared safe.
