The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the minimum temperature in Srinagar settled at 10.5 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees above normal. Several other high-altitude areas also received fresh snowfall amid wet weather across the Valley.

The weather office has forecast light to moderate rainfall at many places in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, accompanied by light snowfall over higher reaches. Thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail are also possible at isolated places from late Thursday afternoon through the night and into early Friday morning.

Conditions are expected to remain generally dry on Friday, although isolated areas may receive brief spells of light rain. The IMD has forecast dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir from October 17 to 24.

In view of the forecast for rain, strong winds and hail on October 14 and 15, the meteorological department has advised farmers to store harvested apples, paddy and other crops safely.

Travellers, transporters and the general public have also been urged to plan their journeys carefully and follow official traffic advisories, particularly when travelling across mountain passes and highways where snowfall could affect movement.
