Fresh Snowfall in Kashmir’s Higher Reaches, MeT Predicts More at Isolated Places

   

SRINAGAR: The fresh snowfall was experienced in the higher reaches on Monday, including Sonamarg, Doodhpathri and other places, with the weatherman here predicting light snow at isolated higher reaches tomorrow.

Fresh snowfall was experienced at Doodhpathri, Sonamarg, Zojila Pass, Z Gali, Yusmarg, Peer Ki Gali, and Sinthan Top areas.

At Doodhpathri, snowfall of 4-6 inches was recorded till this evening, while 4 inches of snow was recorded at Sonamarg, 6 inches at Zojila Pass, 5 inches at Z Gali, 4 inches at Yusmarg, 2 inches at Peer Ki Gali, and 4 inches at Sinthan Top.

Reports of light rainfall were also received from some plains of north Kashmir.

Overall, nothing significant is expected till 15th February, said Independent Weather Forecaster, Aadil Maqbool.

Meanwhile, generally dry weather with the possibility of light snow is expected at isolated higher reaches tomorrow, said Director Meteorological Department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad.

He said that generally dry weather is expected from February 12 to 14, while generally cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain and snow is expected at isolated places on February 15 & 16.

Director MeT also said that on February 17, the weather would remain generally dry, while generally cloudy conditions with the possibility of light rain and snow are expected at isolated places on February 18 & 19. (KNO)
