Srinagar: Fresh snowfall at several places along the road on Srinagar-Jammu highway has forced its closure, reports said on Wednesday.

Reports said that no traffic was allowed ahead of Jawahar Tunnel after fresh snowfall.

The snowfall and rainfall has triggered shooting stones in Banihal-Ramban sector.

Meanwhile, reports said that several areas in the southern part of Kashmir have received fresh snowfall.

Reports said that it is snowing heavily in Shopian district and the Mughal road.

Reports of fresh snowfall were received from Gulmarg in northern part of Kashmir, upper reaches of Banihal, Jawahar Tunnel, Ramban and Patnitop areas.

The fresh wave of rains and snowfall has led to a decrease in the temperatures across Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the upper reaches of Ganderbal district, including the tourist resort of Sonamarg, have been witnessing fresh snowfall since Tuesday afternoon.

Reports said that Sonamarg received more than 1ft snow since Tuesday while as 3-5 inch of snow had accumulated at upper reaches, including Gagangeer, Kullan and Gund.

The fresh snowfall has also hampered the snow clearance operation on Sonamarg road started few days ago by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
