SRINAGAR: Authorities have decided restricting the movement of people in most of Srinagar on Friday when separatist leaders have sponsored a protest. Almost entire old Srinagar will be covered by the day long restrictions.

A senior civil administration officer told Kashmir Life, the restrictions will be imposed in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of police stations Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Safa Kadal, Khanyar, Rainawari, Kralkhud and Maisuma.

The officer avoided using the word curfew but insisted the restrictions will be imposed on the movement of people and transport.

Teaching activities in all the educational institutions across Srinagar will remain closed as a precautionary measure, the officer said.

The decision were taken in wake of separatist leadership sponsoring a day long strike against the killing of civilian in a Shopian village, The eleventh standard student, a resident of Ganavpora in Shopian, was killed when counter insurgency grid opened fire on an allegedly stone pelting group of local residents who were resisting cordon and search operations at a the time of Iftaar, reports said.
