A group of thirty student from Kashmir who are on a tour to mainland India Tuesday met president and supreme commander of armed forces of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

Srinagar based defence spokesperson said, “the group visited the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the magnificence and grandeur of which found an equal match in the girls’ lofty optimism and infectious vigour and energy. And getting to meet the Hon’ble President Pranab Mukherjee, who extended his warm greetings and blessing to the children, will undoubtedly remain etched in their memories for eternity.”

The spokesperson added, “afterall, not very many can boast of having met the President and that too, in the Rashtrapati Bhawan.”

“Snober Khan, a participant student, also presented a memento to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces on behalf of Srinagar based Chinar Corps army,” the spokesperson added.

The visiting girls conducted a tour of the Indian parliament where they even attended one of the Lok Sabha sessions for some time.

Interacting with the children, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Poonamben Hematbhai Maadam exhorted them to “relentlessly pursue their dreams and strive for excellence in every sphere”.

“She also complimented the Army for such an initiative which was bound to open avenues for these children,” the spokesperson informed.

The students also visited the National Museum in Delhi which is a repository of the India’s historical and cultural heritage.

“The section of Mughal Era’s jewellery was understandably the major attraction for these young souls which fully reflected in their sparking eyes,” the spokesperson added, “Captivated by the experience so far, the girls are confident that this tour will be a life changer for them.”
