Full Dress Rehearsals Held Across Kashmir Ahead of Republic Day

   

SRINAGAR: In preparation for the 76th Republic Day, full dress rehearsal ceremonies were conducted on Wednesday across all districts of Kashmir, showcasing a preview of the grand celebrations planned for January 26.

The main event in Srinagar took place at Bakshi Stadium, where Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade, and took the salute at the march past. Addressing the gathering, Bidhuri highlighted the region’s developmental achievements, emphasizing milestones like the inauguration of the Sonmarg Tunnel and progress on the Kashmir-Kanyakumari railway project.

Bidhuri lauded the peaceful conduct of elections in the region and stressed the administration’s efforts to combat drug abuse and ensure uninterrupted essential services. The event included performances by contingents of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, JKAP, and students from various schools, alongside cultural programs by local artists.

In Ganderbal, a similar rehearsal was held at Qamaria Stadium, where Deputy Commissioner Shyambir took the salute at the march past and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. Patriotic cultural performances by students added vibrancy to the event.

In Anantnag, the rehearsal was conducted at Shaheed Himayun Muzzamil Memorial Government Degree College. Additional District Development Commissioner Abdul Aziz Sheikh emphasized the district’s achievements in development and welfare schemes during his address.

At Bandipora, S.K. Stadium hosted the main event, with ADDC Mohammad Ashraf Bhatt presiding. Bhatt highlighted public welfare initiatives and praised the community’s role in developmental progress.

In Kulgam, the rehearsal at District Police Lines featured a march past by various contingents, including women police and NCC. ADDC Bashir Ahmad Wani underscored the administration’s commitment to holistic development.

In Baramulla, ADC Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina led the rehearsal at District Police Lines, commending participants for their enthusiasm and urging successful Republic Day celebrations.

At Pulwama, ADC Dr. S.M. Ashraf highlighted the district’s developmental milestones during the event held at District Police Lines, which included cultural programs by local artists and students.

In Shopian, ADC Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz presided over the rehearsal at District Police Lines, emphasizing the importance of remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters. The event featured cultural performances depicting patriotic themes.

In Kupwara, ADC M Rouf Rehman unfurled the national flag at District Police Lines, highlighting the district’s achievements during the current financial year. Similar events were also held in sub-divisions like Handwara, Lolab, and Karnah.
