KL Report

SRINAGAR

Days after Congress party expressed its dismay over what they said ‘anti- congress’ statements by National Conference Additional General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Chief Minister and party’s working President Omar Abdullah has directed all his senior party colleagues against issuing statements regarding the ‘fund scam’.  The two provincial presidents Davinder Singh Rana and Nasir Aslam Wani have been authorized by the Chief Minster to speak and issue statements on behalf of the party on the issue that has sent shock ways across the political spectrum of the state.

Highly placed sources in the National Conference told KNS that a meeting of senior leaders was also expected in next couple of days after Chief Minister arrives from New Delhi on Tuesday during which future course of action would be discussed. The sources claimed that the Chief Minster may allow some senior ministers and leaders to speak to media on the issue.

“Before leaving to New Delhi, Chief Minister had asked all the party leaders not to speak to press on the issue, instead authorized only the provincial presidents to speak the party line.” A senior NC leader and Minster told KNS, adding that the party was going to hold a meeting after Chief Minster arrives in Srinagar on Tuesday.

Interestingly the coalition partner of National Conference, Congress had conveyed its ‘anger’ to NC leadership over the ‘anti- congress’ statements from its Additional General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamal.  Congress had even asked NC to tighten the noose on Kamal  saying his statements were denting the image of the party which was not acceptable to congress.

Pertinently Senior NC Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar had demanded resignation of Agriculture Minster Ghulam Hassan Mir after the ‘scam’ hit the headlines last week accusing the Minster who is in the cabinet on Congress quota of having indulged into serious mischief.

“If the report is really true, the matter is very serious and Mir should resign forthwith on moral grounds.” Sagar had said. However since after Sagar along with other party colleagues have been avoiding issuing statements.

“We have been told by CM not to speak on the issue. We are expecting to get a green signal from the high command to issue individual statements in a couple of days.” a senior NC leader, wishing not to be named told KNS.
