Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday criticized the government for not mentioning the name of an army major, accused of killing 3 civilians in Ganwapora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

“Preposterous! Now, J&K Govt in Supreme Court says no accused named in the police FIR registered in the brutal killing of 3 civilians in Shopian, while all along they were beating the drum that the accused has been identified and named and “justice” will be delivered!” Mirwaiz wrote on his Tweeter.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday told Supreme Court in Delhi that Major Aditya Kumar has not been named as accused in FIR in Shopian firing case in which three civilians were killed.

The Supreme Court has fixed the matter for final disposal on April 24. The apex court also asked the J&K government to stop the investigation on basis of FIR till the matter is heard on April 24.

Last month, the top court had restricted the Mehbooba Mufti-led government from taking any “coercive steps” against Army officers, including Major Aditya Kumar, accused in the case.
