SRINAGAR: In the wake of recent incidents of flash floods and cloudbursts reported from the Kangan area of Ganderbal district, the District Administration has urged residents and tourists to remain alert and exercise utmost caution.
According to an advisory issued by the Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate Ganderbal, the public has been directed to strictly follow precautionary measures, including avoiding visits to riverbanks, nallahs, and flood-prone areas until further orders, refraining from crossing streams, bridges, or causeways during heavy rainfall, and steering clear of vulnerable slopes to minimise landslide risks.
The advisory further instructs tourists and trekkers to follow local administration guidelines, keep emergency contact numbers ready, and stay away from water bodies during bad weather. Parents have been asked to keep children indoors, while livestock owners should shift animals to safer and higher locations.
All Tehsil Level Disaster Management Committees, line departments, and field officials have been directed to remain in a state of readiness to tackle any emergency.
