Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves who were using a fake (wooden) gun for robberies in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.

Police in a press conference said that a gang using a wooden AK 47 were looting people in parts of Sopore has been arrested by a team of police on Thursday.

While addressing media SDPO Sopore Raja Majid said that during special operation a gang comprising of four members were arrested by a team of Sopore police.

The officer further said that they recovered a wooden AK-47 gun, one motorcycle and two cellphones from their procession which they were using to loot people in parts of Sopore.

Police identified accused as Bilal Ahmed Rather (Carpenter), Latief alias Tusqi, Farooq Ahmed and Ishfaq Ahmed all residents of Sopore.

While Station House officer Azim Iqbal talking with Media said that the accused thieves, committed many robberies in town with the wooden gun. He said the accused were active in the area for last one year. (GNS)
