SRINAGAR: To improve patient care, Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat on Tuesday announced an additional medical block at the GB Pant Hospital in Srinagar to reduce over crowdedness and to improve on the patient care in the hospital.

During his visit, the minister took stock of the medical facilities, heating arrangements, sanitation and other healthcare facilities available at the institution.

Officials said the minister inspected various sections of the hospital and was briefed in detail about the services being provided to the patients. Bali called upon the doctors and paramedics to make the optimum use of the available resources and provide best services to the patients.

The minister stressed on ensuring punctuality, improving sanitation and plugging the gaps to further improve patient care.

“The government is considering the expansion of the health institute to improve the facilities and to cater to the huge rush of patients,” the minister added. He said the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, had already been directed to take measures to transfer the 10 kanals of custodian land near the hospital for the construction of the additional block.

The minister directed the officials concerned to submit a detailed project report regarding the requirements for the further development of the health intuition.

“The minister took a round of wards, laboratory diagnostic units, and sewage treatment plant and received detailed feedback about the inflow of patients, availability of medicines, manpower and the status of diagnostic gadgets, sanitation, ambulatory service and parking facilities in the hospital. He also interacted with the visitors, attendants and enquired about the facilities available there,” the officials added.

Bali has also issued directions for installing wall-mounted heating equipment in the hospital corridor to provide comfort to the attendants.

While expressing satisfaction with the services in the hospital, the minister called upon the hospital administration, doctors, and paramedical staff to put in extra efforts to provide best services to the patients.
