SRINAGAR: Students of Government Degree College (GDC) Doda staged a protest on Saturday, blocking the road and demanding justice following the death of a 14-year-old girl from Chatroo in Kishtwar district.
The protesters demanded strict action against all those allegedly responsible for the girl’s death and raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the case.
The minor died while being taken for emergency medical treatment following an alleged attempt to terminate her pregnancy. Police have registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A government school teacher and his brother have been arrested in connection with the case.
The protesters called for a thorough investigation and strict legal action against all persons found responsible.
The girl’s death has also led to protests in Chatroo and Kishtwar town, where people have demanded justice and accountability in the case.
