While terming the continuous detention of Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani, house arrest of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Peer Saifullah and Ayaz Akbar on the holy occasion of Jumat-ul-Vidah (Last Friday of Ramzan) as sorrowful and open interference into the religious affairs, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) this evening said that the communal backed PDP government has broken all the previous records of cruelty and oppression.

“Geelani sahib continues to remain under house arrest today from last 85 days and he was today fifth time in this holy month of Ramzan forcibly stopped from offering Friday congregational prayers. It is now 12th time after he returned from New Delhi in April when he was forcibly stopped from performing his religious duties,” a Hurriyat (g) statement said.

“The Jammu & Kashmir has been converted into a major jail and this state is ruled by the army, police and Indian secret agencies. Nocturnal raids and arrest of dozens of innocent students have created a sense of fear all over the Kashmir valley. Police have arrested 50 innocent students and 70 more are still wanted in the Srinagar only which is very concerning and sorrowful,” it said. “Police also raided the houses of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Srinagar and Ganderbal Raja Mehraj-ud-din and Peer Saifullah.”

“The excesses and atrocities of Indian forces have increased as the Eid days are coming closer,” the statement alleged.

Strongly condemning the raids and arrests of the pro-freedom leaders and innocent students, Hurriyat Conference (g) said that these excesses and jails “will not deter us to pursue our sacred cause.”

Meanwhile extending his heartfelt Eid greetings to Muslim Ummah in general and Kashmiri people in particular, Hurriyat patriarch  Syed Ali Geelani appealed people to celebrate the Eid with austerity, simplicity and according to the Islamic principles.

“Geelani Sahab also reiterated his appeal for 30 minutes token peaceful protest demonstration after the Eid prayers, against the harassment of the Jammu Muslims on one pretext or other at the hands of RSS-Mufti Sayeed coalition government, attempts of making demographic changes there, not releasing the political prisoners before the Eid, mysterious killings and arresting of hundreds of youth in the entire valley,” the statement concluded.
