Hurriyat (g) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani Sunday urged both United Nations and United States of America to compel India over giving right to self-determination (RSD) to Kashmiris.

“Both UN and US are pressurizing India and Pakistan to start dialogue process. I want to ask them (US and UN) that dialogue between India and Pakistan is meaningless unless both nations giver RSD to people of Jammu and Kashmir. So I ask both US and UN that they should compel India and Pakistan to give Kashmiris their RSD,” he told reporters at his Hyderpora office after a seminar.

He said talks between India and Pakistan hold no meaning unless they are “result oriented”. “Over 150 times have both nations held dialogues till now, but couldn’t make headway on Kashmir. So such talks are meaningless. Until both countries decide to give Kashmiris their RSD, talks between them hold no ground,” he said.

On Hurriyat’s role in dialogue process between India and Pakistan, Geelani said: “Dialogue is not main objective but resolution of Kashmir dispute is.”

He said that he will oppose any move by state and central government to settle west Pakistani refugees and ex-servicemen in J&K. “We will continue our struggle against any such move and will aware people about such designs of government through seminars and media,” he added.

Stating that Kashmir situation was more dangerous than Palestine, Hurriyat (g) chairman said that India is sitting on the heads of Kashmiris through illegal occupation”.

Geelani said that people belonging to the mainstream political parties were “creating roadblocks on the way of achieving our freedom”.
