Srinagar

Addressing a gathering at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Hurriyat (g) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday said that the desecration of Jamia by some masked men was an “attempt to link Kashmir’s indigenous struggle with the global terror groups”.

Earlier, the Hurriyat leadership had scheduled to observe “Youm-e-Taqadus” today after the culmination of Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid. The resistance leaders along with the other people had assembled to observe the Youm-e-Taqadus over the desecration of the Jamia pulpit on December 28, 2018.

Hurriyat (m) had earlier asked the general public including civilian societies to jointly raise their voice against this act of attempted desecration and convey a message that nobody will be allowed to tamper with the centrality of Jamia Masjid and what it stands for.
