Hurriyat (G) Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani in a statement paid rich tributes to the militants killed in Shopian and expressed hope that the people of the state, keeping in view the precious sacrifices by our youth shall keep a close vigil on the ongoing movement so that it reaches its destination.

The spokesman said that exemplary sacrifices given by our nation for its sacred mission of right to self-determination make it mandatory for all of us to take this movement to its logical conclusion without making any compromise.

Hurriyat chairman expressed his deep grief over civilian killings in Shopian and extended his condolences with the bereaved family of slain civilian Shahid Manzoor Mir. He paid his tributes to the young soul and blamed stubborn attitude of authorities for continuous “bloodshed” and said that since the last several decades, people in the state are facing the war-like situation. People are facing extreme situations, said Geelani and added that people are braving the bullets, pelts, and atrocities at the hands of government arrogant forces.

Geelani also expressed his grief over the damage to the orchards, especially those where fruits were yet to be plucked, due to heavy snowfall in the entire valley.

He said these natural calamities do occur despite all human attempts to avoid them. They are nothing but to caution the people on one hand and put their human and helping nature to test on the other hand, as such episodes call for urgent and timely help by the people who are not affected.

He further said that people should seek help from Almighty as He only can rescue them from such disaster
