Day after urging people to boycott the next year elections, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday said that return of the mortal remains of Afzal Guru has now become an election stunt for the mainstream parties and claimed that none of the pro-India political parties were actually serious in seeking the return of the Guru’s mortal remains. He also accused the Govt. of diluting the article 370, and said forces have been given free hands to play havoc in forests and transport the green timber illegally outside valley.
Geelani also alleged that forces have occupied at least 28 lakh kanals of land in the valley, and dared mainstream politicians to vacate the land from their (forces) possession and take back Power projects from NHPC.
“Making hue and cry over the return of Natural resources particularly the Power projects from NHPC and dead body of Afzal Guru from Tihar is just an election stunt.” Geelani told KNS, adding that Dr. Farooq Abdullah signed on the death warrant of Maqbool Bhat and his son Omar Abdullah signed the Guru’s warrant.
He however did not spare the Opposition PDP, accusing it of boycotting the assembly proceeding deliberately to please New Delhi.
