Hurriyat (G) Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of Kashmiri detainees in New Delhi’s Tihar and other jails including Udhampur, Kathua, Kotbalwal.

The spokesman said despite their falling health no medical treatment or care is provided to them,” Geelani said, appealing to the Amnesty International, Asia Watch, and other international organisations for human rights to take cognizance of the plight of these detainees and use influence for their release.”

Referring to “prolonged detention” of Masarat Aalam Bhat, Geelani, in a statement on Thursday said, “Aalam is languishing in jail since long, however, it is quite disheartening that he is being subjected to vengeance by state authorities.

Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep concern over the falling condition of Dr Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, saying he is languishing in jail since past eight years and suffering from multiple ailments. Geelani added that despite his deteriorating condition, no proper treatment is provided and his eyesight is badly affected in absence of specific treatment.

Geelani said NIA failed to prove anything with any substantial proof. There was no evidence against  Shabir Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Peer Saif Ullah, Meraj u Din Kalwal, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahid Yusuf, Zahoor Watali the Hurriyat leaders, hence there is no moral or legal justification to detain them, said Geelani.

Geelani said that Ameer Hamza is lodged in jail since past 3 years and despite court orders for his release police is detaining him in unnecessary

Geelani in his statement paid tributes to Hurriyat leaders and activists including Dr Mohd Qasim Faktoo, Shafi Shariati, Gh Qadir Bhat, Feroz Ahmad Bhat and Pervaiz Ahmad, saying authorities are prolonging their detention on one pretext or the other.

Geelani demanded the immediate release of Mohammad Yousuf Falahi, Mir Hafiz Ullah, Nasir Ganie, Abdul Gani Bhat, Nazir Ahmad Khawaja, Gh. Mohammad Khan Sopori, Mohammad Yousuf Mir, Gh. Mohammad Tantrey, Mohammad Shaban Khan, Mufti Abdul Ahad, Mohammad Ashraf Malik, Manzoor Ahmad Kaloo, Ab. Majeed Lone, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo, Javed Ahmad Falahi, Mohammad Amin Ahangar, Mohammad Ameen Parry, Abdul Hameed Parry, Mohammad Subhan Wani, Ghulam Hassan Shah, Ghulam Hassan Shah, Hakim-ul-Rahman, Abdul Aziz Ganie, Manzoor Ahmad War, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Ikhlas Ahmad Sheikh, Mashooq Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad Pala, Maqsood Ahmad, Mohammad Rajab Bhat, Aijaz Ahmad Bahroo, Nisar Ahmad Najar, Abdul Khaliq, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Meraj-ud-din Naikoo, Bashir Ahmad Saleh and added that the continuous detention of these detainees  is an attempt to “pressurize and intimidate resistance leadership.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference said that Geelani has decided to offer Friday prayers at Masjid Hamza on Friday, April 06.
