Qaid “Tehreek-e-Azadi” Kashmir and Chairperson All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani has been discharged from the hospital and “with the grace of Almighty Allah he is absolutely fine”, said his party in a statement issued here Saturday evening.

Hurriyat Conference (g) thanked all the people who showed their concern regarding the ill-health of Geelani and “who prayed for him”.

In a statement to KNS from New Delhi, Hurriyat Conference (g) spokesperson, Ayaz Akbar, said, “the health condition of Syed Ali Geelani deteriorated at the time when he had returned from his routine health check-up from Escorts Hospital on 10th March, Thursday, at his room.”

Geelani resides in Malviya Nagar area in South Delhi. Due to cold weather, he often flies to union capital due to his weak health system.

“He complained of severe pain in his chest and in the meantime he got unconscious. Geelani Sahab was immediately moved to the nearby Max Hospital where the doctors present at the first stage predicted that he might had suffered a minor heart attack but after the detailed check-up and examining the medical reports the doctors ruled out any heart attack,” Ayaz said, “according to them, due to the low sugar level and fatigue, Geelani Sahab had fallen unconscious and though he is already a patient of chronic asthma so he felt acute pain in his chest.”

Further quotind doctors, Ayaz said, “the health condition of Geelani Sahab is although satisfactory now but he needs complete rest and has been advised not to remain empty stomach for long.”

Ayaz further said, “Geelani Sahab was although shifted to the ICU of Neurology department on Friday but he was later discharged from the hospital on Saturday at about 01:00 pm and shifted to his temporary residence at Malviya Nagar New Delhi.”

Hurriyat Conference (g) thanked Kashmiri nation and all those people from other countries from who expressed their concerns and anguish over the ill-health of Geelani and also held prayers for his good health.

“The keen interest shown by the Pakistan Prime Minister, Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, and Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, regarding to the health of Geelani is highly encouraging for the Kashmiri nation and it shows their affection and affiliation towards the Kashmir,” the statement said.

It added that the non-resident Kashmiris too were as concerned with regarding the health of Geelani as the people living in the Kashmir. “We thank all of them who prayed and showed their concern for the health of Geelani and we feel that it is the outcome of their prayers that the pro-freedom leader of Kashmir is feeling better and fine.”
