Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani is leading a big rally of all kinds of vehicles towards Sopore where he is scheduled to offer Friday prayers after a long period, address a public meeting and visit the house of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru. Geelani is accompanied by his old associate, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai.
Earlier, according to Tehreek-e-Hurriyat sources many leaders and activists of the party were put under house arrest and were not allowed to accompany their leader including spokesman Ayaz Akbar, M Altaf Shah, Pir Saif-ullah and Raja Mairaj Kalwal.
Geelani, left his residence at 11 in the morning with only few vehicles but as he reached on bypass near Taingpora, dozens of vehicles with banners and flags joined making it a rally. “The people in the rally are raising slogans like ‘go India go back’,” locals of Lawaypora informed Kashmir Life.
Meanwhile, in Sopore as well thousands of people are waiting for the arrival of the octogenarian separatist leader. The welcome banners are posters are seen everywhere in the town.
Geelani was released from 235 day long house arrest on October 29 and he immediately announced his Sopore visit.
