Srinagar: Paying rich tributes to slain youth of Padgampora encounter, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said that “our youth lay their lives to end the age-old slavery of their nation and are putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honour these sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end”.

In a telephonic address to mourners, Geelani said, “I pay my heartfelt and sincere tribute to these martyrs and I would have attended their funerals but authorities don’t allow me to move and I am under house arrest since last seven years. They are even barring me from offering religious obligations.”

Geelani said, “I assure my nation that one day we will emerge as a free nation. You should exhibit steadfastness and keep away from these sham elections.”
