Paying rich tributes to “Shamas-ul-Haq and Sofi Mohammad Akbar, Hurriyat patriarch, Syed Ali Geelani said that conscious nations can never afford to forget the sacrifices of brave sons of the soil and the best way to recall and remember their contribution is to refresh the pledge to honor their blood and not to be cowed down to surrender or compromise by the oppressive forces.
In a statement issued here, the octogenarian leader said, “Sofi Mohammad Akbar opposed the treason and betrayal by the tall leaders of his time & chose to live a modest life away from the glare & glamour of power. Shaheed Shamas-ul-Haq was a renowned and knowledgeable scholar who will fully chose to lead, from the front, the movement for Islam and Azadi. Shamsul Haq rejected the philosophy and modules of secularism, socialism and secular democracy and chose the path of hardships to reach his much cherished goal.”
Meanwhile, Geelani expressed his serious concern about the deteriorating condition of ailing wife of incarcerated Hurriyat spokesperson Ayaz Akbar.
