Geelani tries to defy restrictions, arrested

Police arrested Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani when he tried to defy the restrictions and came out of his residence to march towards the UNMOGIP office in Sonwar on Wednesday.

“Geelani was arrested and shifted to police post Humhama, because he tried to defy the restriction orders,” a police officer deployed in Hyderpora told Kashmir Life on the condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, police resorted to tear gas shelling when people tried to assemble in Channe Mohalla Hyderpora. They tried to march towards airport road amid sloganeering but police chased them away after firing few tear some shells.
