As per the schedule the senior most separatist leader and chairman of Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani has left for the Shopian district Wednesday morning where he will lead a rally and address the people there.

“Geelani left from his residence at 11.30 in the morning along with two dozen vehicles,” said an eyewitness.

Later, police tried to stop the Hurriyat (G) chairman and his cavalcade near degree college Pulwama but the local youth managed a safe passage for them. “Once Geelani reached main chowk Pulwama he was welcomed by hundreds of youths present there,” said a local.

“The locals in Pulwama requested Geelani to come out of his car and first address the people there. But Geelani promised them that he will address the people of Pulwama once he returns from Shopian.” Till the last reports came in the youth in Pulwama were not letting Geelani to proceed.

Pertinently on November 01, 2013, Geelani addressed a rally in Sopore and there he announced that he will address a public meeting to commemorate memories of martyrs on November 6, after noon prayers at Shopian Chowk in South Kashmir and on November 8 after Friday prayers he will visit Kupwara main Chowk.
