Terming the Government decision of lifting  the siege from the residence of Syed Ali Geelani as a good omen for peace, renowned Human Rights activist and Chairman Peoples Democratic Forum of Banglore, Professor N.Babaiah Tuesday said that separatist leadership should be given free hand in Kashmir to propagate their ideology.

Babaiah told Srinagar based news agency CNS that Syed Ali Geelani has right to propagate his ideology and this right can’t be snatched from him. “We are living in a democratic country where people right to freedom of expression. All the freedom loving people advocate the policy of peace and freedom and we always stood for the freedom of Syed Ali Geelani and other Kashmiri separatist leaders,” he said.

He reiterated that Kashmiri people should be given the right to self-determination. “You can put a person into cage but can’t kill his thought and ideology. Kashmiri people have right to decide their fate and they should be given this right without any delay,” Babaiah said adding that it would be unfortunate if people of Kashmir would not be given this basic right.

Babaiah further said that a team of Human Rights Activists from all over India is visiting Kashmir in November and during their visit, they would meet Syed Ali Geelani and other separatist leaders.
