SRINAGAR: Braid Chopping is the new crisis that has kept everybody on tenterhooks. SIT apart, the state police had set up special help lines. Then came a Rs 3 lakh award.
On Sunday, it has been doubled.
“The reward for giving information / assistance in nabbing any person found involved in Braid cutting doubled to Rs 6 lakh,” the police spokesman in Srinagar said. “The name and particulars of the person / persons will be kept secret.”
There have been scores of incidents of braid cutting in the Kashmir periphery. Though most of the north and central Kashmir is still not affected – there are only two cases, the crisis is an epidemic in South Kashmir where scores of cases were reported so far.
