SRINAGAR: With the weathermen predicting erratic weather conditions in the valley beginning from Tuesday evening with snow and rains expected to occur during this period, the temperature is expected to go down.

After almost two weeks of pleasant weather and the sunshine that had encouraged people to fold the woollens and keep the cupboards locked. But the situation is changing for a few days.

According to MeT sources, light rain is likely to occur today (Tuesday) evening which will intensify into moderate rains in the plains and snowfall in the higher reaches.

Details available on various weather websites suggest that the Western Disturbances are again hovering over Jammu and Kashmir and various other Himalayan states.

“It has induced a cyclonic circulation over Northeast Rajasthan,” one site suggested. “Due to combined effect of these two systems, scattered rain and snow are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand.”

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was 4.3 degrees Celsius while it was minus 0.8 in Pahalgam and minus 4.0 in Gulmarg, MeT sources said.

In Jammu, the minimum temperature was 13.6 while it was 12.8 in Katra, 7.2 in Batote, 4.9 in Bannihal and 2.4 in Bhaderwah.
