Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Prasad Saturday said that as per the statement of a Kashmiri youth, Manan Qadir Wani committed suicide in Ghaziabad.

“We have come to know that a Kashmiri boy used to accompany Manan Wani all the time. We talked to him and he told us that Manan was with him during late night. The boy said that Manan after taking dinner took a stroll and later on hanged himself,” Prasad told CNS adding that there might be some provocation behind his death.

“Either he may have some medical depression or there may be some family problems. Another angle may be his involvement with any female friend which compelled him to take this extreme step,” Prasad said.

He said that if the parents of the youth are not satisfied with the Ghaziabad police probe then Jammu and Kashmir police can constitute a special team which would be sent there to ascertain the facts.

“We are in touch with Ghaziabad police and so for initial investigation has reveal that it was a suicidal death,” Prasad said.

Pertinently, Manan Qadir Wani, pursuing Engineering in SRM College was found dead in his room at Ghaziabad Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night. His family claimed that Manan was murdered in his room.
