SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) Managing Director, Ghulam Hassan Rather has passed away at his Srinagar residence. He was around 72.
Rather was unwell for some time. Some of his friends said he was facing multiple problems.
An electrical engineer Rather rose to become the Managing Director of the JKPDC and eventually became the Power Development Commissioner of the erstwhile state. He was basically from Kokernag area of South Kashmir and in Srinagar, he was living in Hyderpora. His funeral prayers were held near Masjid Ibrahim.
Rather was the elder brother of politician and former lawmaker Abdul Rahim Rather, who was earlier with PDP and is now with Apni Party.
Rather is survived by two sons – both are medical doctors and wife.
