SRINAGAR: Veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who ended his more than five-decade-long association with the Congress last month, announced his party name on Monday as Democratic Azad Party.

While addressing a press conference in Jammu Azad said that around 1,500 names for my new party were sent to us, in Urdu, Sanskrit.

He said that the mix of Hindi & Urdu is ‘Hindustani’.

“We want the name to be democratic, peaceful and independent,” said Azad in a press conference.

Azad also unveiled the Democratic Azad Party’s flag and explained the significance of the colour.
