SRINAGAR: A girl was rescued alive by the rescue team after she jumped into the Jehlum river in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Sunday.
Officials said that a 65-year-old fisherman, Ali Mohammad Dar, a resident of Muslim Peer Sopore, drowned while he was in his boat.
A team of SDRF and police soon arrived at the scene and launched a rescue operation. As the team was searching for the fisherman, a girl in the same vicinity jumped into the river, but the same team successfully rescued her.
Meanwhile, the search for the fisherman was still underway. (GNS)
