GMC Anantnag Suspends Three Staff Over Alleged Use of Expired Glucose

   

SRINAGAR: Three employees of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag were suspended on Friday following complaints of alleged administration of expired glucose to patients in the surgical ward, officials said.

An official said that the action was initiated after patient attendants raised the matter with the competent authority, he said.

The suspended officials have been identified as Lateif Wani, Pharmacist and In-charge Store Keeper, Asif Ilyas, Technical Assistant and In-charge Pharmacist, Surgical Ward and Uzma Hamid, Staff Nurse, Surgical Ward.

During the suspension period, the three have been attached to the office of the Medical Superintendent and directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission, officials said.

A detailed inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts and fix responsibility, they said, asserting that any negligence compromising patient safety would be dealt with firmly officials further added.

Meanwhile, the swift action drew appreciation from the public, with many lauding the authorities for their prompt intervention. (KNS)
