SRINAGAR: Police have arrested Dr Bodh Raj Kundal, head of GMC Jammu’s Neurology department for allegedly molesting a young woman. The lady had moved an application on basis of which the senior doctor has been arrested, Jammu newspapers reported.
Police said a young girl of about 25 years of age, who belonging to Reasi had lodged a written complaint with Bakhshi Nagar police station on Thursday morning. She has alleged that Wednesday evening. The doctor delayed her appointed till late and then molested her at his clinic. She said the doctor is running the clinic at his residence.
The complainant from Gool belt is suffering from nervous disorder. Police said, the victim managed to flee when Dr Kundal tried to outrage her modesty. She narrated the entire incident to her family members, who brought her to the Police Station this morning and lodged the complaint. Police said they have recorded the statement of the girl before registering the case.

On basis of the complaint, the police registered a case (FIR 114/2017) under Section 354 (assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of RPC at police station Bakshi Nagar and the doctor was arrested from his residence.
However, what is interesting is that the officials and the media are emphasising on the fact that the arrest has proved the doctor was into private practice. This has pushed the main complaint about molestation to the background.
Off late, doctors are facing allegations of maltreating patients, resorting to private practice and even molesting women.
