SRINAGAR:  According to a statement issued by GMC Srinagar on Saturday reads that the super-specialty department of Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery achieved a milestone by successfully performing the first Microvascular free tissue transplant in the management of critical limb injury.

The statements further read that the surgery was performed on a young male with compound comminuted fracture with exposed bone and prosthesis. The seven hour long surgery was performed by Dr. Mir Yasir (Consultant Plastic Surgeon) assisted by Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed and Dr. Imtiyaz under the guidance of Head of the Unit Prof. Shabir Iqbal.

Principal GMC Srinagar, Prof. Parvaiz Ahmed Shah lauded the efforts of the department and promised to provide all necessary administrative support to further upgrade it including procurement of latest state of art microsurgical equipment.

The Principal also inaugurated high-end Holmium Yag Laser device for department of Urology on this occasion.
