SRINAGAR: The administration of the Boys Hostel at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, has issued a stern warning against the use and possession of alcohol and narcotic substances within hostel premises.
The notice, by the hostel warden, follows the discovery of alcohol bottles during a recent inspection. Complaints were also received regarding some hostel residents allegedly engaging in the consumption of alcohol and drugs, activities strictly prohibited under hostel rules and the law.
The warden stressed that such actions violate both legal and institutional guidelines and are contrary to the values upheld by the hostel. Students were reminded that possession, use, or distribution of prohibited substances would result in severe consequences, including legal action and immediate eviction without prior notice.
The administration has urged all residents to adhere strictly to hostel rules and regulations to ensure a disciplined and conducive environment.
Meanwhile, social media platforms are flooded with reactions, with many expressing outrage. One user commented, “These are the future doctors of our state; what can we expect from such so-called doctors? Society must take action.” Another remarked, “Why just a warning? Police must investigate, and those responsible should be punished as per the law.” (ANB)
