SRINAGAR: Broadcaster Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri, who was nominated by the National Conference to Rajya Sabha before he resigned the party in July 2019, has joined Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The two were seen talking to each other in Srinagar where Azad is currently camping. Ratanpuri confirmed to reporters that he has joined Azad. Ratanpuri has been maintaining a low profile after his resignation from NC, a month ahead of the reading down of Article 370. In Rajya Sabha, he was vocal and critical of his own party.

In 2014, he was fielded by the party from Pulwama. He lost to PDP. After quitting Radio, Ratanpuri was with NC for 10 years and was mostly seen as Omar’s buddy. However, he resigned as he had differences with the party leadership especially Omar.
