After “interrogating” incumbent Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed for five consecutive days the Indian federal investigation agency, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has asked the lawmaker to get property documents and statements of his bank accounts.

He has been told that he will be called back after the 11th of this month, reports said.

Rasheed was summoned by NIA on September 29and told to present himself before the NIA on October 3. Since then Rasheed has been questioned throughout for the past five days.

“Rasheed sb has been told to go home,” a spokesperson of Rasheed said.

However, he has been asked to get documents of his property, including land and bank statements, the spokesperson said.

Rasheed is a two time lawmaker from Langate assembly constituency of Kupwara district in northern part of Kashmir. He formed Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) a few years ago.

Rasheed is the first unionist politician who was summoned by the NIA for “questioning”.

He has been named as “witness” in the NIA’s case RC-12/2011/NIA/DLI, lodged under Section 121 A of IPC and Sections 17, 18, 39 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
