SRINAGAR: Gold prices climbed Rs 803 to Rs 1,51,612 per 10 grams in futures trade on Wednesday, helped by fresh positions taken by speculators amid firm demand in the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold contract for October delivery advanced Rs 803, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 1,51,612 per 10 grams. Trading activity in the contract stood at 775 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise to fresh positions created by participants, alongside firm spot demand.
In overseas markets, gold futures in New York gained 0.70 per cent to USD 4,322.14 per ounce.
The latest movement came as domestic gold futures continued to trade at elevated levels, with the October contract recording the stated gain during Wednesday’s session.
