SRINAGAR: Rail traffic on the Jammu-Kathua route was disrupted for several hours on Wednesday after a wagon of a goods train derailed at Chhan Arorian railway station in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 am affecting movement on the key railway link connecting Jammu and Kashmir with other parts of the country.
Railway authorities and officials reached the station shortly after the derailment and assessed the situation. The derailed wagon was later moved away from the track, allowing rail traffic to resume around noon, officials said.
No damage to railway property was reported in the incident, according to officials.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances leading to the derailment, with the exact cause yet to be ascertained.
